People Observations

Spend the day at the Barbican Centre in London with some friends, a sketch pad, and a couple of pens.

It made good practise for capturing peoples natural body language, and their interaction between one another outside in a relaxed environment.

I also captured scenes which I found to have interesting form and composition. So the way people are all sat around the pond together with the trees in the background giving a sense of place and helping to set the mood.

Mapping out a Town

Im currently designing a print for an exhibition based on Harlow Town. My design will be using elements of Harlow, and mapping them out across the page to represent the town, and some of its key features.

Taking some important industrial buildings such as one of the top pharmaceutical companies, and a major glass manufacturing plant for example, and creating a very simple monotone image to use in print.

I aim to print in two sizes, one smaller one colour print, and a larger two colour print. Meaning that I will need to think carefully when drawing out the design to make sure that the one design can work in both forms. This meaning there can be no overlap,or two colours touching, as I would normally do in my print work.

Water Tower

Some buildings such as this water tower may have less importance to the town society or economy, but serve as a familiar feature along the landscape that people will recognise.

Hand Panted Postcards

8 Hand painted postcards of various locations around the world.
I’ve tried to capture the beauty and atmosphere of each place, using only two to three colours, to create a range moods and colour schemes, to suit different interiors to make grate artwork to hang on walls, or just to post with a message to someone special.

Each piece is drawn from photograph of a beautiful town or city built upon a mountain, with some kind of silhouette foreground to add depth and an interesting finish.
Painted with a brush pen and ink, then out lined with a rotring pen on high quality, 300gsm textured artists paper measuring at 150mm x 115mm, just a little bigger then a regular postcard to allow room for a nice white border for ease of framing.
